About the book
The Middle East is often perceived as a crisis region. The social, economic and political changes, terrorism and state collapse, the consequences of the Arab Spring and climate change pose major problems for the states in this region. In addition to these areas, this volume provides in-depth information on neglected and long-term lines of development beyond the quick headlines. The contributions shed light on transnational dynamics and challenges facing the key states in the region. The influence of external actors such as the USA, the European Union, the United Nations, Russia and China is also analysed.
