Statement on the smear campaign against Jörg Rensmann (MFFB board member)
Berlin, April 24, 2024
A video is circulating on social media that allegedly shows our board member Jörg Rensmann in Berlin on April 9, 2024. However, the video does not show Jörg Rensmann, and our board member was not even in Berlin on April 9. We see the video as part of a campaign to intimidate us and hinder our work against antisemitism. The antisemitic hate mail and threats against Jörg Rensmann and our association are alarming and we will take legal action against them.

Iranian regime attacks Israel – Solidarity with Israel!
Berlin, April 14, 2024
The Iranian regime has launched several drones and cruise missiles from its own territory against Israel. These slow-moving missiles will reach their target in several hours, which increases the likelihood of a successful attack. This threatening action marks a significant turning point, as it is the first direct attack by the regime on Israel, carried out from its own territory. The Mideast Freedom Forum Berlin expresses its unconditional solidarity with the beleaguered Israeli population and stands resolutely by their side. We tirelessly support all those who fight for democracy and freedom and against the Islamism of the regime in Iran.

Press Conference: Current threats from the influence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Germany
Berlin, November 1, 2023
The Mideast Freedom Forum Berlin invite you to a press conference on the topic of “Current threats from the Islamic Republic of Iran's influence in Germany” with terrorism expert Kasra Aarabi (London). The immediate threat from Islamist terrorism has been drastically brought home to us once again by Hamas' attack on Israel. While central Arab states are increasingly seeking reconciliation and peace with Israel, the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the strongest supporters of Palestinian and Arab terrorist groups. The regime in Iran is also trying to expand its influence on Muslim communities in the region and in Europe. The war in Israel is being used to further incite hatred of Israel and Jews worldwide – including in Germany.

Forced confessions on 7th day of trial of show trial of German-Iranian regime critic Jamshid Sharmahd
23.8.2022
Iran held another hearing today in the trial of German citizen Jamshid Sharmahd. On today's trial day, the well-known critic of the regime in Iran was forced - after apparent torture - to confess to some of the acts he is accused of.
The Save Sharmahd alliance strongly condemns the trial of the journalist. Human rights activist Mina Ahadi, who has been fighting against the death penalty since 2004, says: "The German public must not be deceived by the staged show trial before the Revolutionary Court in Tehran. There can be no question of a trial under the rule of law. A confession after 700 days of isolation torture and enormous physical and psychological pressure has no value whatsoever." read more
In Iran, the execution of a German regime critic is imminent: Save Jamshid Sharmahd
Berlin, 3/6/2022
The well-known regime critic and German citizen Jamshid Sharmahd was abducted to Iran by the Iranian secret service in August 2020 during a stopover at Dubai airport.
In a staged show trial before the Revolutionary Court in Tehran, Sharmahd is now being accused of contrived acts. There is no trial to the rule of law; there is no evidence, Sharmahd has been forced to confess under torture, and he has no access to a lawyer of his choice.
The dangerous dramaturgy of the show trial amounts to a conviction and execution of Sharmahd. This is in line with the regime's usual approach of discrediting dissidents and silencing them through executions. The Mideast Freedom Forum Berlin (MFFB), together with the family of the accused, politicians and human rights activists, therefore appeals to the German government to exert public pressure on the regime in Iran to release Jamshid Sharmahd. read more
Recommendations for a new Iran Policy
Berlin, 14.10.2021
In its current policy paper, "For a Plan B in Iran Policy," the Mideast Freedom Forum Berlin (MFFB) calls on the future German government to take a turn in Iran policy. Ulrike Becker, head of research at the Mideast Freedom Forum Berlin, explains: "What is needed is a strategy that can really solve the problems and bring peace to the region. Under Plan A - temporary containment of the nuclear program in exchange for lifting sanctions - Iran has destabilized the region through military influence, the human rights situation in Iran itself has deteriorated dramatically, and Iran has become a nuclear threshold state. That's why a Plan B is needed now." read more
